Celebrate World Food Day 16 October with Woolworths and EduPlant

It’s World Food Day on 16 October and Woolworths is inviting South Africans to plant a virtual seedling to benefit schools’ food gardens.

Woolworths will transform all the virtual seedlings planted on their “Living Wall” into real seedlings, which they will donate to a school with an EduPlant permaculture food garden.

Over 8 200 seedlings were donated this way last year, enabling the schools to have access to nutritious food. EduPlant was founded by Food & Trees for Africa and is a national programme that assists schools in developing permaculture food gardens. It involves thousands of teachers, parents, children and community members, who all work to produce vegetables, herbs, fruit and medicinal plants on the school grounds. The food gardens are a living classroom, teaching kids and the community about sustainable living skills.

To plant a virtual seed, go to www.woolworthslivingwall.co.za, choose a plant and add your name. It’s free, so you have no excuses not to!
