ConVista and Khayelitsha Special School Planting Seeds of Knowledge

Khayelitsha Special School has a dedicated group of children enthusiastically involved in their food garden. It is serving well as an outside classroom and also producing healthy vegetables that are used to feed the learners. Ms Thembe Tyandyatha, as project leader, has been instrumental in coordinating the activities in the garden and in helping to make it a success. It is hoped that the skills acquired on the Permaculture Development Course will help to develop the garden and sustain the benefits it brings.

Khayelitsha Special School would certainly benefit from continued support, especially in the area of curriculum integration development. The garden could further serve as a learning tool for the learners.

The learners, educators and all involved in the food gardening programme have benefitted from the acquired skills and improved nutrition. FTFA and Khayelitsha Special School thank ConVista for this opportunity to work together and make a difference. FTFA hopes to be able to continue to support this deserving project.
