FTFA Facilitator, Mikal Brown, has just returned from an eye opening trip to Nakuru, Kenya where he attended the Slow Food workshop coordinated by Slow Food.
Slow Food is based in Italy but has chapters or as they call them "convivia" all over the world with a strong following in Africa. Slow Food celebrates the timelessness of quality traditional, indigenous and delicious food. This celebration incompasses every aspect of the food chain from the original producer all the way to satified bellies of the consumer. 1000 Gardens is a project administered by Slow Food to support the development of 1000 organic, traditional and indigenous food gardens across the continent. This workshop was aimed at getting some of Africa's grass roots organizations and producers sitting together to discuss how to collectively deal with the challenges of modern agriculture.
