A warm welcome to all volunteers at the FTFA Khaya. It is exciting that more and more people are willing to give of their skills and time to assist FTFA to help more indigent communities.
Please note that volunteer positions are available for weekdays only, except where specifically required for weekends.
Food & Trees for Africa is often looking for volunteers to help
with our programs. Whether it is helping to keep things running
smoothly in head office, or digging holes for trees in townships, there
are plenty of ways to get involved.
We can use both full time and part time volunteers. Some of our typical
full time volunteers are visitors from overseas that want to make a
contribution while here or students pursuing studies in the
horticultural field who are looking for relevant experience. Part time
volunteers are usually concerned South Africans that want to get
involved with an organization that is making a positive social and
environmental difference to the country.
The goal of the volunteer program is to materially assist the FTFA
programs, while providing a meaningful experience for volunteers.
Due to type of work that we do and the amount of time required to train
volunteers, we prefer volunteers who:
Have their own transport, or are comfortable with using public transport in Johannesburg
Are able to make at least a 1month full time commitment or 2 month
part time commitment to the program. If you meet these criteria and
would like to learn more about getting involved, please fill in your
details in the ‘Volunteer Information Form - Click Here...’.
Sometimes we need people with particular skills to assist us – it could
be anything from installing IT applications to looking for new
premises. These needs are typically identified by our program managers,
and usually involve working directly with them at our head office in
Johannesburg. A list of specific skills that we are looking for at the
moment are included below. Have a look, and if you think that you can
help, please contact the person listed.
