Arbor Month 2017 – Food & Trees for Africa (FTFA) launches new programme with innovative social tech
Fundraising for communities and the environment using integrated Social Media Platform
24 August 2017 - On 01 September 2017, as part of their Arbor Month campaign, Food & Trees for Africa (FTFA) will be launching a first-of-its-kind social media platform to raise money for the environment and communities in South Africa.

Whilst seen elsewhere in the world, this will be a first within the Non-Profit sector in South Africa (Potentially Africa). It is also fitting that it will be launched on the new DotAfrica Top-Level Domain: trees.africa
The trees.africa micro-site will integrate with Facebook and Twitter to allow users to call out their friends for light-hearted misdemeanors and #SetItRight by contributing towards planting food forests in South African townships.
FTFA will also be launching their new Food Forests Programme. The high-density planting method will provide self-sustaining mini-forests which include fruit and indigenous trees, nut trees, perennial berries, herbs and legumes. The idea is to make South African communities more food secure while contributing to the fight against global climate change.
Chris Wild, Executive Director of FTFA said, “The idea behind the campaign is to have a little fun while raising money for a good cause. It’s also been great to look at Social Tech that improves our townships and communities.”
