Residents of Johannesburg are urged to get behind the call to switch the city to 100% renewable energy by 2050. This campaign urges Johannesburg to divest from fossil fuels and prioritise climate-friendly, affordable energy generation technologies such as solar and wind. Moving Johannesburg towards 100% renewables isn’t just about reducing the carbon footprint of our energy sector. It is also about creating jobs and improving the living conditions & health of the residents.The initiative is a collaboration between the African Climate Reality Project hosted by Food & Trees for Africa, and the Climate Action Network International (CAN). Food & Trees for Africa and partners join hands for Arbor Month celebrations

Started by J. Sterling Morton, Arbor Day has become an annual celebration commemorated by countries all over the world with tree planting events. In South Africa, Arbor Day was first celebrated in 1983. Since then, South Africans have embraced the concept and so Arbor Day was extended to Arbor week. At Food & Trees for Africa (FTFA), South Africa’s greening organisation, we celebrate Arbor month, every month!

Konica Minolta South Africa employs good practice for environment and the economy

FTFA Ecopreneur, Jeminah Mkhize, and Trees for All Administrator, Pat Anderson, took to the road for the first of this years` Konica Minolta South Africa tree planting events.

They arrived, together with Konica Minolta South Africa Nelspruit branch manager, Gerhard van Tonder and team,  at Nelspruit Primary School, site of the first event, and immediately felt welcome in the well-tended school grounds.
